When I am not working, I have a very full life with two amazing daughters (ages 3 and 7), my husband, two dogs, four siblings, and 8 nieces and nephews. I am so, so lucky to have them - and they are the support system in my life. They do so much for me, and for each other. I am very proud of the family we have built.
Professionally, I pride myself in being a very forthright person and value the amazing and arduous work that entrepreneurship is. Because of that, I do my very best to give business owners and all my clients my time, best advice, recommendations, and resources possible. Regardless of whether there is monetary gain. I focus on businesses in Downey, Bellflower, South Gate, and the various surrounding cities. I have the benefit of knowing the area as I have lived there for almost 25 years. I have a vested interest in seeing the area continue to grow and prosper. Ultimately, I want lifelong clients who buy and sell their first - and fifth business with us! I feel confident that I work with the best - Transworld Business Advisors is 45+ years in the making, 250 offices, and 1,000 business brokers. We are a worldwide company - we are not going anywhere, and we want to take care of our clients.
Q: How long have you been a business broker?
A: I just had my two-year anniversary with Transworld Business Advisors.
Q: What was the first job you ever had?
A: Gardening and street maintenance with Clean & Green in Los Angeles. I was 12 years old - that was HARD WORK!
Q: What is the most satisfying aspect of your work?
A: Giving business owners keys to their new business and giving sellers the possibility of a new path - they're all so happy!
Q: Explain what you do in five words or less.
A: Valuation, Franchise, and Sell Businesses
Q: What money (or career) advice do you wish you could give your 18-year-old self?
A: Compounding interest is your friend!
Unless you are growing, learning, and earning - change jobs every two years until you find a company and career that values you.
Q: Name one thing about your job that most people would be surprised to hear.
A: The more a business owner does - the less their business is often worth.
Q: Where do you see your industry heading in the next 10 years?
A: Increased business turnover and an increase in people retiring or selling. Consolidation, franchising, and automation.
Q: If you could give your clients only one piece of advice what would it be?
A:
- Record keeping and systems of operations add value to your business.
- Less is more - as the owner, the goal is to create a business that is an investment, not a job! Do less, hand off more to employees.
- Key employees are a liability - cross training is good for business.
Q: What big projects do you have coming up in the next 12-months either personally or professionally?
A: Professionally - I'd like to hire more help both in person and remotely. Ideally both full-time.
Personally - I am trying to make my house more of a home and sanctuary. Adding more order, more shared living space, and play areas for my children and extended family to enjoy. The older I get, the more I just want to stay home and relax.
Q: Why should someone choose a CPA instead of doing their own work?
A: The ever-changing tax code and intricacies of bookkeeping and tax laws in the USA are the most complicated in the world. An individual - especially a business owner - is best served letting a professional handle that. Secondly, it's not that expensive and worth every penny.
Q: Why should someone choose a Business Broker instead of doing it themselves?
A: Selling a business is one of the biggest financial moves an individual will make in their lifetime. It is not the time to experiment - a professional has already cracked that nut - and it is worth every dime!
It takes, on average, 9 months to 1 year to sell a business. It involves multiple people, organizations, negotiations, follow-up, advertising, and all kinds of other unknowns. The process from start to finish has approximately a dozen steps. Unless the owner is licensed in the state of California and wants another full-time job - they need to find a professional.
Q: The mountains, the beach, or the desert?
A: Mountains - the fresh air is amazing!
Q: What other interests/hobbies are you passionate about?
A: Health and wellness, currently hot yoga and weightlifting. Both activities make me happy and motivate me to get up before the kids! I am also big on musicals, and plays - the arts in general. I'm loving that I can take my "littles" to some age-appropriate shows as they get older and share the magic that live theatre and music is.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like people to know about you?
A: For over 20 years, I have worked across finance, wealth management, and banking. This background allows me to serve both individual families and work jointly with corporate clients effectively. I truly enjoy helping people reach their financial goals so they may focus on actually living their lives! Giving them that peace of mind is priceless. Today, I bring the same dedication to business owners and entrepreneurs, helping them build the financial freedom, stability, and security they want for themselves and their families.
